Your email is used to sign you in and to reach you about your account if needed. A post's IP address and the email on your account at the time are kept alongside it so we can investigate and act on abuse reports (spam, harassment, illegal content) - not for tracking or analytics.
An approved post is visible on the site for 1 week. After that it's taken down, but we keep the post text, its IP address, and the email snapshot for one further week (2 weeks total from approval) in case a report needs investigating. After that, the post and everything tied to it is deleted permanently.
If a post is rejected or never approved, it isn't published, and we don't keep it around indefinitely either.
Iceland is in the EEA, so GDPR-equivalent rights apply, enforced by Persónuvernd. You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you or to delete it - in practice, most of it deletes itself within 2 weeks anyway. Contact us at sludurheimar@gmail.com with any request.
We don't sell or share your data with third parties. It's used only for running and moderating this site.
If rafræn skilríki (Icelandic electronic ID) sign-in is added later, that involves an identity provider handling your kennitala directly - this policy will be updated to cover that before it launches.
